Fit India Movement: PV Sindhu, Mary Kom Urge People To Join Initiative

PM Modi on Thursday launched the 'Fit India Movement'. Celebrities and renowned athletes joined the initiative and urged people to consider fitness measures.

Several celebrities and renowned athletes supported Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Fit India Movement' initiative which was launched on Thursday in Delhi. PM Modi had announced this initiative in his monthly programme Mann Ki Baat on August 5. The initiative was launched on National Sports Day 2019 which commemorates the birth anniversary of legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand. PM Modi in his initiative and urged people to undertake fitness measures for sustaining a healthy lifestyle. Famed athletes like Mary Kom and P V Sindhu gave a strong message to follow fitness routines.

Celebrities and Athletes support Fit India Movement:

Two-time Olympian Sushil Kumar was seen working out with gymnastic ropes. The Olympian icon was also seen performing the gymnastic rope climb, thereby displaying his sheer dedication for maintaining a healthy cycle. Boxer and Six-time world champion Mary Kom too displayed her routine jogging sessions by the beach. Kom was also seen showcasing her boxing moves and techniques, which otherwise are witnessed in the ring. However, with the 'Fit India Movement', Mary Kom decided to contribute by showing her way of following a strict fitness routine.

PV Sindhu's message

Meanwhile, Badminton World Champion PV Sindhu who won her maiden gold for India at the BWF World Championship recently too urged people to take to fitness and follow a healthy lifestyle. Here's PV Sindhu's message:

"PM Narendra Modiji is launching the Fit India Movement. I am taking the pledge, are you guys ready to take the pledge." said Sindhu.

PV Sindhu stated that since fitness is crucial for everyone, one should spare at least some amount of time for fitness. Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty also joined in and had a similar message. In a video, Shilpa Shetty was seen practising yoga, which is considered as one of the prime sources for fitness. Here's her message:

"Join me in our Prime Minister's initiative. Exercise! Even if it means for 20 minutes, three times a week. Make that effort and you will see the change."

Shetty concluded by saying "Swasth Raho, Mast Raho".

Meanwhile, Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju also urged people to take up fitness seriously. Rijiju said that the movement will also lead to a sports culture in India.  "India is a great sporting country, but still we need to make sports as a way of life." Rijiju said. Rijiju concluded by saying that launching the 'Fit India Movement' on the birth anniversary of Major Dhanchand will be auspicious. These athletes urged people to join the initiative and undertake routine fitness for leading a healthy  lifestyle. The Mega event commenced at the National Capital Region (NCR).
