From PM to Justice Sikri, top sources break down the stand of the committee on CBI Director Alok Verma

Following the sacking of CBI chief Alok Verma, The selection committee members Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge and Justice Arjan Kumar Sikri have given their stance on the proclamation.

Following the sacking of CBI chief Alok Verma, The selection committee members Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge and Justice Arjan Kumar Sikri have given their stance on the proclamation. 

According to sources, PM Modi alleged that under the CVC report, the allegations are serious in nature. 

While, Congress leader Kharge supposedly was of the opinion that the sacked Director ought to be given a chance to make his case before the committee, whereas Justice Sikri claimed that some charges in the CVC report require further probe as a prima facie case is made out against Verma. He added that an unbiased probe cannot take place while he enjoys the protection as a CBI Director.

CBI chief Alok Verma was shunted out on Thursday by the selection committee.

The selection committee headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi had met for the second time on Thursday, January 10 to decide the fate of CBI Director Alok Verma, reinstated by a Supreme Court order after he was sent on forced leave by the government, officials said.

The meeting went on for two hours earlier on Thursday.

The CVC report accessed by Republic detailed the allegations against the Alok Verma that included- 

ALLEGATION 1: RECEIVED 2 CR BRIBE AS CBI DIRECTOR
ALLEGATION 2: NOT CONDUCTING RAIDS AT LALU'S RESIDENCE
ALLEGATION 3: SERIOUS ALLEGATIONS REGARDING FUNCTIONING OF CBI
