Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday led the 5th International Day of Yoga from Ranchi, Jharkhand with all arrangements being in place at the Prabhat Tara ground.
Speaking on the occasion, PM Modi said that peace and harmony have always been associated with Yoga, which can heal several challenges the world faces.
"Today when the world is accepting Yoga, we also have to further research on Yoga, we have to unite Yoga with fields of medicine, physiotherapy, artificial intelligence," PM Modi added.
The International Day of Yoga is being celebrated across the world annually on June 21, since 2015.
Expressing concern that young people are becoming vulnerable to heart ailments, Modi said, "Yoga can play a huge role in tackling the issue and hence, this year's theme is 'Yoga for Heart'."
As per an official press release, adequate security arrangements were made for the occasion in Ranchi also with 40,000 yoga enthusiasts participating with the Prime Minister in the exercise. He was accompanied by Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das, Governor Droupadi Murmu, Union Minister of State (Independent) for AYUSH Shripad Yesso Naik and Jharkhand Health Minister Ramchandra Chandravanshi on the occasion.
Following the practice of Yoga, PM Modi greeted the Yoga enthusiasts at the event venue.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi has been posting one video daily that shows an animated version of the Prime Minister performing Yoga.
In 2015, India created two world records on International Yoga Day when PM Modi led the participants at Rajpath in Delhi and recorded the largest yoga class with 35,985 people. He also participated in a Yoga session in Argentina at last year's G20.
