Amid the ongoing unrest in the country over the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah has asserted that the focus should be placed on the development of the country rather than the construction of a Ram Temple.

Speaking at an event on Monday, Farooq Abdullah stated that God is everywhere, then why the people want to limit him to just a Temple in Ayodhya:

"Ram and Allah don't need our vote. We need to focus on development in the country. Elections need to be on development and not on Ram. They rake up God in every 4-5 years. God is not in Temple or Mosque. God is within us. Why do you want to limit Ram in Ayodhya? Ram is everywhere," said the former J&K Chief Minister.

Later, he went onto ask as to why a Temple for Sita or Laxman is not being built, along with Lord Ram's:

"Why don't you build Temple for Sita, Hanuman and Laxman? Why only Ram Temple?"

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, through a press release, has provided the blueprint for Lord Ram statue soon to be in Ayodhya. The statue would be 221-metre tall, making it the tallest structure in the world.

Here are the full dimension of the statue that has been finalized:

  • Actual size of the statue: 151 metres
  • Chatra: 20 metres
  • The base or the podium: 50 metres
  • Full length of the structure: 221 meters

In the pedestal under the statue, the Uttar Pradesh government has finalised to build a museum that will showcase the history of Ram Janmabhoomi and related subjects.

Besides the museum, an airport in the name of Lord Ram, a medical college and hospital to be named after Lord Ram's father and King of Ayodhya Dashrath and Ram Ji Ki Paidi, like Hari Ki Paidi in Haridwar will be among the other developmental projects that were announced by Yogi Adityanath government in the first week of November.
