Minutes after Gujarat police officials identified Congress' local Taluka Panchayat member MV Thakore threatening non-Gujaratis to leave the state in a video, the Home Minister of Gujarat, Pradeep Sinh Jadeja, appealed to the migrants to stay back in the state. This comes after an exodus like situation emerged in Gujarat after migrants from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh fleed the state over the fear of backlash following the rape of a 14-month-old toddler by a man from Bihar. Taking note of the situation, Gujarat Home Minister said:
"I condemn this incident. The DGP is working day and night. Chief Minister Rupani is also aware of the incident. Police are doing the interrogation of the arrested accused. We did a video conference with DM and SP of every district to maintain law and order situation in the state. Urging people not to leave Gujarat. Everyone security is our priority. Please trust us and dont leave gujarat".
Giving a clear warning to those who have been instigating the hate campaign against North Indians in Gujarat, he said:
"There are people who are trying to threaten people of Gujarat. I assure that will take action against accused. Those who will try to hamper law and order situation, we will take strict action against them. Police is capable and police main work is to curb wrong intentions of wrong people . We trust our police".
Furthermore, he gave a clear picture of the number of arrests that were made in connection with the case.
"More than 450 people have been arrested till now and interrogation is on. Anyone whoever it may be if anyone breaks law and order situation in our state. Our police is capable to curb their intentions".
Earlier on Sunday, Republic TV accessed a video in which MV Thakor was seen threatening a migrant worker in the state. Talking about the video, Pradeep Sinh Jadeja said:
"I saw the video. Police has already arrested him. Interrogation is on. We know their intention. Even before the Gujarat election, Congress did politics over caste. We had a word with Bihar CM and conveyed him the developments regarding the matter".
