'Happy InDishpendence Day!,' says Amul in must-see topical on India's 73rd Independence Day

The posters of Amul India with the Amul girl are known to be iconic. For every important or newsworthy or trendsetting event the company 'dishes out' a memorable poster with quirky headlines, and taglines full of delectable puns.

On Independence Day which is being celebrated on Thursday, the company released a poster showing the Amul girl in white salwar kameez and carrying the Indian flag in one hand and holding the butter in the other, with the headline saying, 'Happy InDishpendence Day!' and the tagline saying 'Amul - The taste of freedom!'

In July, the brand had celebrated India’s young athlete, Hima Das who had won four gold medals in 15 days making the entire nation proud. In the ad, one can see Das with the four medals and with the national flag and is captioned ‘Das the way to go, girl!’

Independence Day celebrations

On August 15, India celebrated 72 years of Independence from the 300-plus years of rule under the British. PM Narendra Modi on Thursday had paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at the Rajghat at 7.00 am. He addressed the nation from the ramparts of Red Fort, Delhi at 7:30 am. In his speech he spoke about an array of topics - from J&K, economy, Triple Talaq, Water Conservation, Revocation of Article 370, Population Explosion and much more.
