In the aftermath of the Tuesday's Maoist attack on a BJP convoy in Dantewada district of Chattisgarh, where Bheema Mandavi, a BJP MLA and 3 cops lost their lives, a high alert has been declared in the Gadchiroli district of Maharshtra.

Gadchiroli is at the Chattisgarh border and is currently a part of red corridor. The attack was at a time when the Maoists in the Bastar region had given a call for boycotting polls a few days ago, threatening people with dire consequences if they cast their votes.

Condemning the attack the Prime Minister extended his tributes to the security personnel saying:

A political conundrum also began after the attack, with the BJP leader of Chattisgarh, Dharam Lal Kaushik alleging that the Congress will benefit in the absence of Bheema Mandavi.

"They will say where did they lack, we are just saying that he was at the top, he was our head, he was a strong opposition for the Congress in this election, and may be they will be satisfied by the fact that he is removed. For us this is a very big loss, it is a loss for that area. The maoist have given a message, if we can kill an MLA, then we can kill, then who are you? But despite this, we will go to that area, with all harshness and rigour, I am also going to the program tommorow, the alliance of the maoist is now visible. After government (Congress) came to power, they are getting the benefit of it."

After minutes of the attack, CM Bhupesh Baghel took to Twitter to condemn the attack and said that Maoists will be answered in their language:

"In order to make the constitutional democracy strong, we will fight again with more dedication and we are committed towards it. I am taking the cognizance of the incident with all top officials.
I am ordering them again that Maoists must be answered in the language they use."
