HP: Man on honeymoon dies during paragliding in Kullu

In an unfortunate incident that happened on Monday, 27-year-old newly-married tourist, who was on his honeymoon, allegedly died after falling while paragliding

In an unfortunate incident that happened on Monday, a 27-year-old newly-married tourist, who was on his honeymoon, allegedly died after falling during paragliding in Dobhi area in Himachal Pradesh. According to the police, the man has been identified as Aravind. His residence was traced down to Amingikarai area in Tamil Nadu's Chennai. Arvind had gotten married to Priti on November 10 and had come to Kullu for their honeymoon trip.

The victim fell before landing

In a possible desire to try something new and adventurous, the couple reportedly booked for paragliding from counter number 369 and went to the paragliding site after which Arvind took off from the site with pilot Haru Ram. However, before the flight could end, Arvind accidentally fell down and died on the spot. The pilot accompanying him also sustained injuries and has been admitted to a hospital.

"The body has been brought for postmortem at a hospital in Kullu and will be handed over to the family. The matter is being investigated. And as soon as the pilot gets discharged from the hospital his statement will be recorded and action will be taken," state Sports Minister Govind Singh Thakur told ANI.

Further, Singh also mentioned that in consideration of the unforeseen incident, the Himachal Pradesh cabinet has also decided to set up norms for adventure sports in the State. Meanwhile, police have registered a case and said that investigations about the matter are underway.

This is however not the first incident where someone has lost their life to an adventure sport. In May and August this year, a Punjab tourist and a Hyderabad doctor had also fallen prey to similar circumstances, leading to their deaths.
