Independent MLA H Nagesh and R Shankar from Karnataka have addressed the media in Mumbai and have withdrawn support to Congress-JD(S) coalition.

Reacting to the two Independent MLAs from Karnataka quitting the Congress-JD(S) coalition, the state CM and JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy said,  "Nothing will happen, I am totally relaxed. I know my strength, two independent MLAs withdrawing support doesn't matter."

Republic TV has accessed their letter of the MLAs withdrawing support:

Meanwhile, as many as 7 MLAs, including Congress and Independents, are currently camping at a Mumbai hotel.

Following the news of three Congress MLAs camping in Mumbai's Powai hotel on Monday for unknown and as-yet-undisclosed reasons, senior Karnataka Congress leader DK Shivakumar left for Mumbai to talk to these leaders and also issued a statement attempting to play down talk of any crisis.

Furthermore, sources had told Republic TV that BJP will be sending party leaders including B S Yeddyurappa, K S Eshwarappa and Jagadish Shettar to meet the Congress MLAs in Karnataka and bring them to a 5-star resort in Haryana's Gurugram area, where Karnataka BJP leaders have been alleged kept in hidden by the party until further information in an attempt to shield them from 'poaching' allegations.

Alleging that the ruling JD(S)-Congress coalition was trying to lure its MLAs in Karnataka, state BJP president B S Yeddyurappa on Monday said its 104 legislators are "united" and will camp in the national capital.

Reportedly, the senior Congress hierarchy held a meeting earlier on January 14  to discuss what they are referring to as the BJP's 'Operation Kamala' - a nod to a political event from a decade earlier when the BJP had allegedly 'horse-traded' away a significant number of Congress MLAs.

"Tonight, the party will get good news, and that the first phase of Operation Lotus has been successful and the second phase of the mission is going on now."

Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge has also reacted to the news of coalition crisis faced by his party and JD(S) in Karnataka.

"Let BJP do whatever they want the government is stable there. How much ever the BJP tries, the government is stable in Karnataka. They did the same thing in 2008 also. This time it is not going to work. I spoke to HD Kumaraswamy. He has assured that government is stable," he said.
