Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Wednesday expressed his shock and disappointment over the brutal Jind rape case. Reacting on the incident, he said,
“It's unfortunate. I am saddened by the incident. However, such incident should not be politicised.”
Khattar further said that to curb such situation in future he has replaced 3 IG officers for failing at handling the incident in a requisite manner.
Earlier in the day, former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Wednesday met the Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki over recent incidents of rape and murder in the state. Following his meet with the Governor, Hooda slammed the Manohar Lal Khattar-led government and said,
"there is lawlessness in the state. Haryana government has no leader. Some ministers are angry, some are sulking, there is no direction.”
The Class X student's half-naked body was found on Saturday from near the bank of a canal in a village in Jind district after she had gone missing last Tuesday. Asked about the allegations levelled by the girl's family that local police did not immediately act upon the complaint lodged with them when the girl had gone missing, the Kurukshetra SP said the SHO concerned had been placed under suspension.
The girl was brutally assaulted, her private parts mutilated and some of the vital organs ruptured, police had said earlier.
