On India's 72nd Independence Day Republic TV paid tribute to unsung heroes of the Nation as part of the #HeroesOfIndia special broadcast.
CPRF martyr Pramod Kumar made the ultimate sacrifice fighting terrorists on Independence Day in 2016, killed two of them before being shot in the head. India honoured his bravery with the prestigious Kirti Chakra. Neha Tripathi, the wife of the martyred CPRF Commandant Pramod Kumar, represented her husband on the show.
Neha, the proud wife, wants her daughter to be proud of her father for sacrificing his life for the nation. Martyred CRPF Commandant Pramod Kumar's daughter was just 5 years old when she lost her father. Now she is 7-years-old and is planning to carry forward the legacy after her father's sacrifice. The little girl who according to her mother is old enough to know that her father was killed by the terrorists wants to honour her father by carrying the legacy forward by donning the uniform someday.
"I want my daughter to know what her father was. I want her to be proud." she said.
Neha, who was often told that if they had a son, he could have dressed in his father's uniform said, "My daughter being a daughter will wear her father's uniform someday."
She lamented that these martyred soldiers and their families are remembered only on August 15 or on January 26 and that they are forgotten on all the other days. The single mother who lost her husband and the bread-winner of the family is struggling to get a job that she deserves. In an interview on the show with a special tribute to the unsung heroes of the nation, a very brave Neha said, "I had to fight a lot for my husband's identity and my identity. Till date, I haven't got the job I deserved. None of the bureaucrats, none of the ministers helped me."
Extending her message to those who criticise the forces, Neha said "You have no idea how it feels to stay in jungles and hills with your batchmates who you consider as your brothers are being shot dead in front of your eyes. So please don't give any judgments sitting in an AC room."
