IAF C-17 to airlift mortal remains of martyred CRPF personnel: MHA

Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a statement that the mortal remains of the 37 CRPF personnel who received martyrdom in the Pulwama terror attack will be airlifted by Indian Air Force C-17 aircraft.

On Thursday afternoon, an IED blast in the Pulwama district along the Jammu-Srinagar highway rocked the 70-vehicle convoy of CRPF jawans who were heading from Jammu back to Srinagar. A total of 37 CRPF jawans were martyred and several others were injured from the terror attack. Terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) claimed the responsibility for the attack.

Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a statement that the mortal remains of the 37 CRPF personnel who received martyrdom in the Pulwama terror attack will be airlifted by Indian Air Force C-17 aircraft and sent to their homes after the wreath-laying ceremony that is scheduled to take place at 2 PM on Friday in Srinagar. The wreath laying ceremony is set to be attended by J&K Governor Satyapal Malik and Home Minister Rajnath Singh in Srinagar.

While addressing the gathering on Friday, PM Modi issued a stern warning to neighbouring country Pakistan saying that the security forces have been given complete freedom in the wake of the Pulwama terror attack due to which the country lost 37 bravehearts. 

"I express my condolences to those martyred in the attack. They laid their lives for the country. Mine and entire nation's condolences are with the families of the soldiers martyred in the attack. Due to this attack, I understand that the blood of people is boiling. I understand that it is natural to have a feeling of doing something about it. The forces have been given free hand," PM Modi said. 

In yet another big statement, Union Minister Arun Jaitley said that status of 'Most Favoured Nation (MNF)' will be withdrawn from Pakistan for its support to the terrorist group JeM which on Thursday, took the responsibility for the Pulwama attack.

He said, "The Most Favoured Nation (MNF) status which was granted to Pakistan stands withdrawn.The MEA will initiate all possible diplomatic steps which have to be taken to ensure complete isolation from the international community of Pakistan of which there is incontrovertible evidence of Pakistan's direct hand in this gruesome terror incident."

This statement came after a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi which took place in New Delhi on Friday.
