IAF Chief Salutes Balakot Airstrike Pilots On 87th Indian Airforce Day

On the occasion of 87th Indian Air Force day Indian Air Force Chief RKS Bhadauria addressed the forces and the Nation during the India Air Force Day parade

On the occasion of 87th Indian Air Force day on Tuesday, October 8, Indian Air Force Chief RKS Bhadauria addressed the forces and the Nation during the India Air Force Day parade at Hindon Air Base in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. During his speech, Air Chief Bhadauria acknowledged the airforce officials for their contribution towards the successful Balakot airstrike on the terror launch pads on February 26, 2019.

Addressing the forces Air Chief said, "I acknowledge the contribution of all personals of the command involved stations and units who silently and proportionally contributed to the success of the airstrike and the terrorist camp at Balakot earlier this year."

Every year, the Air Force Day is celebrated at Hindon base in presence of the IAF chief and senior officials of the three armed forces. The IAF was founded on October 8, 1932, and the force has participated in several crucial wars and landmark missions.

Further talking about the achievements of the IAF he Air Chief said, "Apart from this IAF achieved a number of milestones this year the official conduct of exercise Vayu Shakti at the Pokhran range demented our niche airpower and firing capability and of course, there are more capabilities which we did not demonstrate. The yearly requirements for the Indian army, the Para Military Forces, and Central Armed Police Force have been fully achieved from the last year... The accomplishment of all these talks of the IAf speaks volumes of the professionalism and operational capability of our air warriors."

Air Force Day parade

During the parade, the Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman flies the MIG over the India Air Force Day parade today at Hindon Air Base in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. Also, three Mirage 2000 aircraft and 2 Su-30MKI fighter aircraft will fly in ‘Avenger formation’. The fighter jets are being flown by pilots who took part in Balakot airstrike. The Air Fighter Pilots who took part in Balakot airstrikes have been included in the parade as a mark of tribute to the teams which carried out the strike on February 26 and thwarted the Pakistani aerial attack on February 27. 

Similarly, two squadrons of the Indian Air Force, which played a role in the Balakot airstrike, were decorated with citations at the Hindon base on the 87th IAF Day. Earlier, IAF chief RKS Bhadauria decorated 51 Squadron and 9 Squadron for their role in the airstrike on terrorist camps in Pakistan's Balakot in February.
