A MiG 27 aircraft of Indian Air Force crashed at Devalia village in Jodhpur on Tuesday morning during a routine mission. The Pilot managed to eject safely and escaped unhurt before the jet crashed onto the ground. The police and fire brigade team have reached the spot. Attempts are on to douse the fire. As of now, no casualty has been reported. An investigation will be conducted to find the cause of the accident
Minutes after the incident, Indian Air Force released a statement confirming the same:
Today morning a MiG 27 aircraft airborne from Jodhpur crashed during a routine mission. Pilot ejected safely. A Court of Inquiry will investigate the cause of the accident.
The jet took off around 8.50 am from the Indian Air Force's Jodhpur airbase for a routine mission. As the plane approached Devaliya village at 9.02 am it crashed in an empty field and burst into flames. Visuals from the crash site show a huge fire and debris. A large number of locals were also seen gathered around the crash site.
Earlier, the same model of a fighter plane had crashed near the Jodhpur airbase in Rajasthan. This is the third such incident this year. “The aircraft was on a routine training mission,” an Indian Air Force spokesperson had said.
