In the alleged suicide case of Fathima Latheef in IIT Madras, her father, Abdul Latheef, while speaking to the Republic TV at Kollam said, "Fathima should be the last victim for such harassment anywhere in the country, no parents should lose another Fathima." Fathima Latheef's father, with tears in his eyes, made his statements a day after the last rites of his daughter. She had a lot of dreams, a lot of aspirations to achieve."

Fathima's twin sister Ayeesha Latheef said, "She has definitely been harassed. We don't want to come to a conclusion as to what kind of harassment it was and the police should find it out. People are making it communal. We don't want to talk anything about it. But we want the real culprits to be arrested and my sister Fathima should get justice at any cost." Meanwhile, Fathima's mother Sajitha Latheef said, "They killed my daughter, she doesn't have any reason to die. The police should arrest everyone and put them behind the bars."
