Ball is in Pakistan's court -- This is the message by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) after sharing a large dossier with Imran Khan's government, as per the highly placed sources in the ministry.

The Indian government on Wednesday handed a dossier to Pakistan which had information and evidences of how Pakistan is giving shelter to terror outfits like JeM -- orchestrator of Pulwama terror attack.

With this move, the ball has been thrown in Pakistan's court to prove that they intend to take strict action against terror groups and bring perpetrators of attacks like that in Pulwama to justice, MEA sources have said.

Though, the MEA feels it might be pointless in adhering to the neighboring country's request of intelligence, given their dismal record in taking action when such information have been shared in the past, sources added.

Even after the audio intercepts and information was shared post 26/11 Mumbai attack, and permission was given to visit Pathankot air base after the attack in 2016, the neighboring country did very little to suggest that they take terrorism seriously.

The sources have also suggested that it is now up to Imran Khan to walk the talk on terrorism, and his response will determine the environment which Pakistan intends to create.

In a dastardly attack by Pakistan-backed terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed, 40 CRPF jawans lost their lives on February 14 as their convoy heading from Jammu to Srinagar was struck with an IED blast.

Masood Azhar's terrorist group, which was in the past involved in similar heinous crimes like 2001 Parliament terror attack, had claimed responsibility for one of the worst terror attacks on the forces in the recent times.

Despite the open confession by the JeM, which was later corroborated through investigation by the Indian authorities, Pakistan government said that it had no involvement in the attack, and that the terror group was in no way affiliated with their country.

In its defence, Imran Khan's government accused India of creating a false narrative, but vowed to help in the investigation and take action against the culprits if India provided them with information and evidences .
