PM Narendra Modi received President Xi Jinping at Mamallapuram on Friday after the Chinese leader arrived from Chennai . On the occasion of the second informal summit, PM Modi, who was dressed in traditional attire, took President Xinping to a tour of the Mamallapuram as traditional music set up the perfect ambience. The leaders strolled through the historical city of Mamallapuram which has magnificent architecture dating back to the Pallava dynasty. While at the Krishna's Butter Ball, PM Modi and President Xi Jinping raised their hands in unison to symbolise Indo-China ties.

At President Xi Jinping's arrival at Mamallapuram, he was welcomed by PM Modi with a long handshake. The leaders chatted for a few minutes and exchanged laughs. Following the reception, PM Modi took the Chinese President on a tour of the region dotted with ancient, beautiful structures. The leaders visited Panch Rathas, Shore Temple, Arjuna's Penance and Krishna's Butter Ball among several other places. Later, both the leaders also attended a cultural program from 6 to 6:30 pm at Shore Temple. Following that, both PM Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping will be having a private dinner.
On Day 2 of the summit, PM Modi will have a tete-e-tete with Chinese President Xi Jinping at 10 am. This will be followed by India and China delegation-level talks at 10:50 am in the morning. The leaders will then proceed for, yet another meal hosted by India in the honour of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
President of China, Xi Jinping, is on his visit to India for the second informal summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 11 and October 12. The previous Wuhan summit has happened against the backdrop of India and China standoff on the Doklam issue in 2017. It had gone a long way to defusing the situation. Ahead of the Mamallapuram meeting, China has also made statements towards making ties more harmonious.
