On the occasion of 73rd Independence Day of India, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Thursday hoisted the national flag at Dr Hedgewar Smruti Mandir premises in Reshimbagh area in Nagpur.
Addressing the media on the occasion, Mohan Bhagawat spoke about the abrogation of Article 370, adding that it was possible with the efforts of the entire society in the resolution.
"Article 370 could be removed because the entire society made a resolution, so on this day we renew that resolve again," the RSS chief told the reporters.
Greeting the members of the RSS during the Independence Day celebrations at the Sangh headquarters in Maharashtra, Mohan Bhagawat further said that it is the day to remember the sacrifices made for the country's freedom.
"Today is the day to remember the sacrifices made for the independence and to resolve for it again," he added.
Celebrating 72 years of freedom, RSS general secretary Bhaiyyaji Joshi also hoisted the tricolour at the Sangh headquarters located in Mahal area in Nagpur. Speaking to media, he said that the country is moving towards realisation of the dreams of the nation's great men.
"The country is moving forward to realise the dream of the nation's great men. The hopes of common people will be fulfilled and India will scale new heights in the world," Joshi said.
Earlier, PM Narendra Modi, in his Independence Day speech, spoke about how the abrogation of Article 370 and Article 35A will benefit the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir as the region now has the same rights and laws as the rest of the nation.
"Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh could be the inspiration for peace. and prosperity for India. It can contribute to the nation's wealth. We will work to bring back its glory. All the new systems are for the good of the citizens, even the normal citizen can question the Centre, no one can stop him. We can bring this facility to them," the PM said.
