Independence Day 2019 Speech: PM Narendra Modi Says, ‘We Fulfilled Basic Needs In First Term, Now We’ll Fulfill Dreams’

In his Independence Day speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about fulfilling the basic needs of the citizens in his first term in charge. PM Modi stated that if his first government worked towards providing the daily needs, his second government will seek to fulfill the dreams of the people of India.

PM in his trademark style during his speech at the Red Fort, New Delhi, said, “From 2014-19, you all gave me the opportunity to work for five years, the common people used to struggle for their basic necessities. We have worked  relentlessly for five years so that their daily needs, particularly of the  village, the poor and the farmers, Dalits, the affected, abused, cheated, the Adivasis,  we have tried to focus our attention towards this. We brought the vehicle on this track and the work towards this direction has been proceeding at a rapid pace.”

PM Modi then added, “However, times change, if 2014-19 was a phase for the fulfillment of needs, then the phase after 2019 will be for the fulfillment of their dreams. That’s why how India of 21st century should be, what speed it should move forward, how it should work and how highly it thinks, we have planned everything and are taking the steps one after the other.”

From the abolishment of the Triple Talaq, Article 370, and water crisis and efforts to conserve it, child marriage, terrorism were some of the other points PM Modi addressed during his speech.
