Independence Day: President Ram Nath Kovind Lists Benefits For People Of J&K, Ladakh After Integration With India

President Ram Nath Kovid addressed the nation ahead of the 73nd Independence Day on Wednesday and paid tribute to the martyrs who had sacrificed their lives in winning freedom for the country. President Kovind invoked the spirit of Mahatma Gandhi and Guru Nanak to inspire the Indians and said that the country largely functioned even today according to the ideals of the father of the nation. 

President Kovind lists out benefits for J&K as Article 370 is abrogated

Talking about Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, President Kovind said that the state is all set to receive all the benefits enjoyed by the rest of the country now that Article 370 had been abrogated. He said that with Article 370 scrapped, the state could finally access the benefits provided by the government of India and can avail those services without any disruptions. The intention of the freedom fighters was not only to provide freedom but to make the lives of all the Indians better.

"Now that Article 370 is scraped, the state of Jammu and Kashmir can avail the same services that people across the country avail. The people of the state can now avail the educational benefits provided by the government and can now make progress. Similarly, the tribals and backward classes living in the state can also access similar services as people living in various parts of the country do. With the Triple Talaq practice being criminalized, the women living in the state of Jammu and Kashmir can live a fearless life and will have a law to protect them", he said.

J&K gears up for Independence Day celebrations

Visuals of the rehearsals that were accessed showed the Jawans proudly marching on the Sher-e-Kashmir cricket stadium in Srinagar, completely dressed in their uniforms, rehearsing for the celebrations on August 15. The various groups include troops from the Indian Army, the BSF, CPRF, and the local police force. An all-women officers segment is also seen rehearsing for the march alongside various other groups from all over the country, who are in Srinagar, to participate in the celebrations.   

The national flag was hoisted at the grounds by the dignitaries followed by which the national anthem was sung. Srinagar will witness the real celebration on Thursday.
