Prime Minister Modi addressed the importance paid to security and peace apart from progress and said that countries around the world fell prey to activities of the terrorists and were hence caught in the violence. PM Modi said that for the sake of world peace, India will have to act tough on those spreading violence or attempting to spread discontent and hatred and said that India has already acted firmly against them.
Talking about the ill-effects of terrorism and violence, PM Modi said that those promoting and harbouring terrorism had destroyed India's neighbours. "Afghanistan is troubled by terrorism, Sri Lanka saw a lot of violence and destruction and even Bangladesh has been rocked by terrorism and its activities. India will not sit as a mute spectator and will strictly oppose those who promote and spread terrorism. India is making all-out efforts to tackle terrorism and security related issues", he said.
Further, PM Modi lashed out at the countries that sponsored terrorism and vowed to expose those behind the state-sponsored terrorism and who are responsible for exporting terrorists, glorifying themselves and their inhumane act. He saluted Afghanistan, a brave neighbour of India that was due to celebrate its Independence day later this week.
"In another four days, our neighbour and good friend Afghanistan will celebrate its 100th Independence Day. I salute the country and congratulate its people for the milestone. Those who intend to spread fear, harbour hate and incite violence, our government and defence forces will react firmly. The government's response to terrorism will be firm and strict'', he said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday asserted that his government neither nurses problems nor keeps them pending and referred to the scrapping of special status to Jammu and Kashmir, saying India now is one nation with one constitution.
Addressing the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort here on the 73rd Independence Day, PM Modi spoke against separatism, dynatism, discrimination, and corruption in Jammu and Kashmir. He said: "Jo kaam pichle 70 saal mein nai hai. Nayi sarkaar banne ke baad, 70 din ke andar Article 370 ko hataane ka kaam - Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha - majority ke saath pass kiya. This means, everyone had it in their minds but everyone wondered who will come ahead and initiate it. I had no selfish motive in this, I am only here to fulfill my duties and responsibilities of the people. Main aapka kaam karne aaya hoon."
