India Rejects 377: Netizens React To Supreme Court's Verdict

The Supreme Court of India has given its much-awaited verdict on Section 377. Here's how netizens reacted to the verdict.

It had been on July 17 that a 5-judge Constitution bench headed by the Chief Justice of India, Dipak Misra, had reserved its verdict following days of marathon hearings involving multiple stakeholders over whether or not gay sex should be decriminalised. The verdict of section 377 has been the talk of the town ever since the ban was imposed on the same. In a recent state of affairs, Supreme Court has delivered the verdict on Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code which criminalises homosexuality saying that the Section 377 is 'irrational, arbitrary and incomprehensible. SC also added that consensual sex is no crime and that the LGBTQ community enjoys the same rights as other citizens.  

This has been one of the biggest days for the LGBTQ community, who has been actively participating in protesting worldwide. The Indian film fraternity has also been extending their support by taking to their social media handles. Sonam Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan, Dia Mirza are amidst the first ones leading the bandwagon.
