Mortal remains of 37 CRPF personnel will be airlifted and sent home after wreath laying ceremony at 2 pm today in Srinagar, to be attended by J&K Governor Satyapal Malik and Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley says, 

"The CCS met to take assessment and discuss the Pulwama incident. The CCs observed 2-min silence in the memory of those who led down their life by making deep sacrifice. We express condolences with families who lost their family members. 

The CRPF will make detailed arrangements for transporting the mortal remains of the deceased to their families. A detailed assesment of the incident was also taken.

The MEA will initiate all possible diplomatic steps which have to be taken to ensure complete isolation from the international community of Pakistan of which there is incontrovertible evidence of Pakistan's direct hand in this gruesome terror incident. 

The MEA will in due course keep you informed of the steps it will be taking. The most Most Favoured Nation status which was granted to Pakistan stands withdrawn.
MEA will also engage with the international community to make sure that the comprehensive convention on international terrorism which has been pending for decades before the UN, particularly because of the definition of terrorism is now adopted at the earliest. 

As far as the forces are concerned, they will be taking all possible steps to ensure complete security is maintained and to ensure those who committed this gruesome act and those who supported it are made to pay a heavy cost."

PM Modi pays tribute to the CRPF soldiers who achieved martyrdom on Thursday in the terror attack in Pulwama, as he flagged off the 'Vande Mataram' train in New Delhi.

"I pay tribute to soldiers who lost their lives in Pulwama Attack. Our security forces have been given full freedom. We have full faith in their bravery. 

Those who are behind this attack they will pay a price for the attack. This time is very sensitive. The whole country is together. We are fighting to win the fight. If our neighbouring country (Pakistan) thinks that these acts will destabilize India, then they should quit such dreams. Their intentions will never succeed. We will give a befitting reply to the attackers.

"Caught in economic turmoil, if our neighbour thinks that by wreaking havoc & destruction it can bring India to its knees, its designs will never succeed. 130 crore Indians will give a befitting response to every plot, to every attack."

US State Department has issued a travel advisory to its citizens asking them to reconsider travel to Pakistan due to terrorism.

As per official reports, 40 jawans were martyred and many suffered severe injuries in the deadliest terror attack on security forces in a decade when their convoy was targeted in Pulwama district on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway. The bus which came under the main impact of the blast belonged to 76 battalion of the CRPF. 

Pakistan backed Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists took responsibility for one of the biggest attack in the last 15 years, in a text message to Kashmiri News Agency GNS.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly condemned the 'dastardly' terror attack in which CRPF convoy, which was moving from Jammu to Srinagar, was targeted by the terrorists. In probably the biggest terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir since the Uri Army camp strike of September 18, 2016, following which surgical strikes were conducted in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, at least 30 soldiers were martyred on Thursday. 

'The sacrifices of our brave security personnel shall not go in vain', tweeted the Prime Minister adding that the entire 'nation stands shoulder to shoulder with the families of the brave martyrs', PM Modi wrote to Twitter. 

President Kovind too condemned the attack and assured that the entire nation is united to fight against the forces of terror and evil.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh also issued a strong reaction to the incident. Addressing the media on Thursday, the minister said:

"The attack was carried out by Pakistan backed Jaish-e-Mohammed. A strong reply will be given and I assure the people of the country this. We will leave no stone unturned to get to the bottom of this attack. CRPF is a brave security force of India. Time and again, they have sacrificed for the nation. No amount of praise can define their effort to maintain peace in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The nation salutes their sacrifice and stands with the family of the martyrs."

Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on the Pak-based Jaish-e-Mohammed's dastardly terror attack on a CRPF convoy in Pulwama, J&K on Thursday.

The statement begins by calling the location of the attack 'Indian Occupied Kashmir' reads as follows:

‘Attack in Pulwama in Indian Occupied Kashmir is a matter of grave concern. We have always condemned acts of violence anywhere in the world.

We strongly reject any insinuation by elements in the Indian media and government that seek to link the attack to Pakistan without investigations.’

Half an hour after its first statement, Pakistan has issued an updated statement where 'Indian Occupied Kashmir' has been changed to 'Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir':

Mobile internet services have been suspended in Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of the terror attack that took place in Pulwama on Thursday.

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina offers condolences to the families of the martyrs and maintains zero-tolerance policy against terror activities. 

"At this sad moment, we stand by the people and govt of India. We offer was condolences to the members of the families who lost their dear ones. Our thoughts and prayers are speedy recovery of those who got injured.

Bangladesh remains steadfast in its commitment against terrorism of all forms&maintains a zero-tolerance policy against any kind of terrorist activities. We would continue to work&cooperate with international community including India to eradicate menace of terrorism."

UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi expresses solidarity with the security forces. 

"I'm shocked, outraged & deeply grieved by the barbarous attack on CRPF convoy in J&K. Our brave CRPF personnel died serving the nation selflessly, at the hands of cowardly terrorists, & their sacrifice will not be forgotten.

My heart goes out to loved ones of each & every victim. I share their pain with all my heart. I sincerely hope that those responsible for this dastardly terror attack will be brought to justice&made to pay for this appalling act, that goes against every tenet of humanity."

Update at 7:26 AM: United Nations issues a statement condemning the attack and expressing condolences to the families. 

US Department of State issues statement saying the US condemns the terror attack in the strongest terms, stating that Pakistan-based terrorist group Jaish-e-Muhammad has claimed responsibility for this heinous act:

"US condemns in the strongest terms the terrorist attack today on an Indian CRPF convoy in the Indian state of Jammu & Kashmir. We extend our deepest condolences to the victims & their families, & wish a speedy recovery to those injured.

US is resolutely committed to working with the Indian govt to combat terrorism in all its forms. UN-designated, Pakistan-based terrorist group Jaish-e-Muhammad has claimed responsibility for this heinous act.

We call on all countries to uphold their responsibilities pursuant to UN Security Council resolutions to deny safe haven and support for terrorists."

Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has returned from Sweden. She will attend the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security at 9:15 AM.

Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik is going to attend the wreath-laying ceremony of the martyrs. Home Minister Rajnath Singh is set to accompany him for the same.

The Cabinet Committee on Security headed by PM Modi will meet on Friday morning over the Pulwama attack in which around 37 CRPF personnel have been martyred when their convoy was targeted on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway. The meeting is scheduled to take place at 9:15 AM, as per sources. Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is also said to accompany.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's public meeting in Itarsi, Madhya Pradesh has been cancelled for Friday in the wake of the Pulwama terror attack. 

BJP chief Amit Shah also cancels his political rallies on Friday. 

Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, NSA Ajit Doval & Finance Minister Arun Jaitley have arrived at PM Modi's residence in Delhi for the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security.

In a statement from The White House, United States has issued a stern warning to Pakistan condemning the Pulwama Terror attack. 
"The United States calls on Pakistan to end immediately the support and safe haven provided to all terrorist groups operating on its soil," read the statement.
