India to be home to world's tallest 'Shiva Murti' by March 2019

The tallest Shiva Statue in the world, Shiva Murti, will be completed by 2019 at Nathdwara, Rajasthan

After becoming home to the world's tallest statue, Statue of Unity - made in remembrance of Sardar Vallabhai Patel - India is set to be the home of the tallest Shiva statue. It is reported that a Shiva Murti, at a height of 351 feet, will be built and completed by 2019 at Nathdwara, Rajasthan.

Presently, almost 85% of the work on the statue has been completed, and it is expected to be unveiled to the public in March. When created, this will be come the fourth tallest statue in the world, behind Statue of Unity, Spring Temple Buddha and Laykyun Setkyar.

'Mirage Group' is the company behind the creation of this Murti which will be completely of concrete and cement. As many as 750 workers are working behind to create the statue since the past four years. The Shiva Murti is expected to be so tall that it can be visible, even from Kankroli flyover, which is 20 kms away. Before the construction began, there was discussion with an Australian company.

One of the major reasons behind the creation of this Murti is tourist attraction. Along with the world famous Srinath Mandir, people can now visit the Shiva Murti, along with theater and garden when they visit Nathdwara.

The foundation of the Murti was laid down on August 18, 2012, which was attended by then state CM Ashok Gehlot and Pujya Murari Bapu. According to the makers of this Murti, 'this one would be quite different as Shiva won’t be holding the Trishul nor he will be in the position of blessing, but in a more pleasing appearance'.
