Indian Ambassador to US Shringla hammers Pak's misinformation on J&K

The Indian Ambassador to the US, Harsh Vardhan Shringla accused Pakistan of spreading misinformation about the Jammu and Kashmir valley, post Article-370

The Indian Ambassador to the US, Harsh Vardhan Shringla, on Thursday accused Pakistan of spreading misinformation in the Jammu and Kashmir valley. He said that taking advantage of the recent tension in Jammu & Kashmir post abrogation of Article 370, Pakistan is conducting a misinformation campaign to disrupt the peace in the region. He also rubbished Islamabad's claims against India over the abrogation and its implementation and blamed Pakistan of undermining India's attempts to bring economic prosperity to J&K.

'Pak's misinformation campaign'

Speaking to global media, Ambassador Shringla backed the decision of the Centre after the abrogation of Article 370 and countered the fake-news peddled by Pakistan. He said, "India is ready to respond to any wrong allegation brought on the country with real factual proofs and be fair on all ground." He also assured that the Indian embassy is ready to offer help to the  Indians living in the US to contact their relatives and families living in J&K, amid communications restrictions.

Talking over the situation in the J&K region post abrogation of Article 370 he said, "The measures taken by the Indian forces have been almost entirely pulled back in recent weeks. Electricity and telephone lines have been restored. There is no shortage of medicine or hospital access in the area."  He also acknowledged that there have been political detention in J&K and they are being held under house arrest. In order to ensure the success of the Indian government’s plan for Jammu and Kashmir, he said that the government had to initiate a certain amount of cautionary and preventative measures.

Indian Ambassador Shringla backs abrogation of Article 370

Ambassador Shringla supported the abrogation of Article 370 by the government. He said that the move the government of India has followed the due legislative process and the two bills were introduced in Indian Parliament with a two-thirds majority. He also said that the move was justified as a way to bring development and investment to the Jammu & Kashmir economy. He said that "Pakistan has always facilitated cross-border terrorism and the incited violence in the region. The Indian government is offering the prospect of good governance, the delivery of social justice and economic development  in Jammu and Kashmir." He also mentioned that Kashmir will soon be a hub of tourism and will receive huge investments from different sectors such as the film industry, horticulture and handicrafts, and other traditional industries."
