In retaliation to the unprovoked ceasefire violation caused by Pakistani troops, the Indian Army decimated one of their forward posts on Monday morning. This comes after Pakistan resorted to the ceasefire violation in the Khari Karmara area of Poonch district after an attack on Sunday. Pakistan resorted to mortar shelling and small arms firing along the Line of Control. The Pakistani troops began to launch an unprovoked attack on Sunday after the two-day visit of Army Chief General Bipin Rawat in Poonch and Rajouri districts.

The Pakistani troops also targeted India’s forward post in the Shahpur-Kerni sector of Poonch district. They have been engaging in the relentless ceasefire violations since July in the two districts of Poonch and Rajouri. About seven people, five soldiers, and a 10-day old baby have been killed in these violations since the violations began in July. In an earlier attack from Pakistan on August 15 about three Pakistani Army soldiers were killed because of India's retaliation.
