Indian Army's Cheetah helicopter makes emergency landing in Assam after technical snag

A Cheetah helicopter of the Indian Army made an emergency landing in an open field in Dharamtul district's Nagaon in Assam on Wednesday morning due to a technical snag.

A Cheetah helicopter of the Indian Army made an emergency landing in an open field in Dharamtul district's Nagaon in Assam on Wednesday morning due to a technical snag. The chopper was flying towards Missamari from Dimapur on Wednesday when the incident happened. All three crew members are reported to be safe.

"There was a minor technical problem due to which the chopper was forced to land in an open field. It happened at around 7:45 am. Nothing happened to the ones sitting inside the chopper," Sub-Inspector Jyoti Bora said while commenting on the incident.

Earlier on Monday night, a tragedy was averted in Mumbai after an IAF aircraft overran a runway while departing from Mumbai Airport.

An Indian Air Force (IAF) AN-32 overran runway 27 while departing from Mumbai Airport for Yelahanka Air Force near Bengaluru, Karnataka. The incident happened at 11.39 pm. No injuries have been reported.

Runway 27 at Mumbai Airport which it overran isn't available for operations.

 Airport authorities have said, "We confirm, departing Air force Aircraft had runway excursion at 2339 hours at RWY 27."

Prior to that incident, a SpiceJet Boeing 737-800 plane overshot the runway while landing at Shirdi airport.

All the passengers and crew in flight SG946 from Delhi, are safe, the airline said in a statement.

"A SpiceJet B737-800 aircraft operated between Delhi to Shirdi overshot the runway while landing at Shirdi. All passengers and crew are safe and are being deplaned normally," it said.
