India's Ambassador to UN pulls up China for blocking resolution, expresses gratitude to UNSC members for their stand against terrorism

India’s Ambassador & Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Syed Akbaruddin has expressed his gratitude to the members of UNSC who stood alongside India fight against terrorism, despite the resolution moved at the UNSC seeking to designate Masood Azhar as a 'global terrorist' being blocked by the China.

While a host of nations supported the resolution, China decided to block it saying it needed more time to consider the request. Despite the setback, Syed Akbaruddin feels it was a small signal athat countries will act against terrorism.

"Big,Small & Many...1 big state holds up, again ...1 small signal @UN against terror. Grateful to the many states - big & small - who in unprecedented numbers, joined as co-sponsors of the effort," his Twitter post read.

Despite four permanent members of the UNSC backing the resolution, China decided to not back it, stating it needs more time to assess the request. This becomes the fourth occasion in the past 10 years that the country has blocked a move to designate Jaish chief as a global terrorist.
