ISRO quiz winners to witness Chandrayaan-2 landing on Moon with PM

ISRO has selected two winners from every state and Union Territory to witness the moon landing of Chandrayaan-2 on September 7 at ISRO control room in Bengaluru

Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has selected two winners from each every and Union Territory (UT) in the country to witness the moon landing of Chandrayaan-2 on September 7 at the ISRO control room (headquarters) in Bengaluru. The students will be witnessing the landing in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 

ISRO space quiz winners to watch moon landing with PM Modi 

ISRO had conducted an online quiz for students from class 8 to class 10 across the country. The goal was to increase awareness about their space research programs. Two top scorers from every state and UT will be selected. While only the winners are selected to watch the satellite landing, all participants will receive a certificate from ISRO.

Chandrayaan-2 Live with Modi:

Nishitha Sharma, a class 8 student from Pinjore received an email from ISRO inviting her to witness the moon landing. She said, “I took part in this quiz on August 11 and I am very excited to visit ISRO and witness the moon landing of Chandrayaan-2.” A total of 10 questions had to be answered in a span of 10 minutes but Nishitha claims she finished it in under seven. 

While ISRO is still contacting all the winners, a tribal student from Meghalaya, Ribait Phawa was also selected to witness the landing. She said, “I am excited to be a part of the historic moment, the more so because the Prime Minister will be among those present in the control room at the ISRO Telemetry.” Another student from Arunachal Pradesh, VKV Oyan, has been chosen to be a part of the event as well. The Class 10 student is studying in Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya in Arunachal Pradesh. The school has expressed their happiness on Twitter.

Chandrayaan-2 enters new lunar orbit:

Chandrayaan-2 successfully completed its third orbit around the moon on Friday. It will perform a similar activity on September 1. A day after that, it will separate from the spacecraft and begin its journey towards the moon. Chandrayaan-2 will make the landing on September 7.
