‘It is the first step in ensuring Masood Azhar pays for his crimes’: Akhilesh Yadav congratulates Indian diplomatic officials for 'significant victory', places these demands to Pakistan

India is celebrating its massive diplomatic victory as Pakistan’s Masood Azhar has been designated as a global terrorist in the United Nations Sanctions List. Several political figures and celebrities conveyed their delight over the development. One of them was Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav, who congratulated the Indian diplomatic officials for their 'tireless work' that resulted in the ‘significant victory’. He also demanded from Pakistan that Azhar is immediately arrested, his assets are blocked and action is taken against all organisations linked to him.

India’s Ambassador & Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Syed Akbaruddin made the announcement on Twitter, “Big,small, all join together. Masood Azhar designated as a terrorist in @UN Sanctions list Grateful to all for their support. #Zerotolerance4Terrorism.”  

Replying to the same, Akhilesh wrote, “I congratulate the Indian diplomatic corp for the tireless work that has led to this significant victory- it is the first step in ensuring Masood Azhar pays for his crimes. We demand Pakistan immediately arrest him, freeze his assets and shut down all organisations linked to him.” 

In a big win for India, owing to its diplomatic efforts, the United Nations Security Council has designated Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar as a global terrorist under the United Nations sanctions list.  

China has lifted its hold and Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar is designated as a global terrorist under the United Nations sanctions list.  

After China's withdrawal, Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar is now blacklisted as a global terrorist.

The founder of the terror outfit perpetrated the Pulwama terror attack that martyred 40 CRPF Jawans, following which India received massive global support, of countries like Russia, United States, United Kingdom, Israel, France and more.

China said on Tuesday that the vexed issue of designating Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar as a global terrorist by the UN will be "properly resolved" but it did not give any timeline, days after Chinese President Xi Jinping met Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan here. 

China put a technical hold in March on a fresh proposal to impose a ban on the head of Pakistan-based JeM, it was for the fourth time that China blocked Azhar's listing as a global terrorist by the UN.
