In a historic move by the Modi government, Home Minister Amit Shah has proposed the abrogation of Article 370 from the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Amit Shah while addressing the parliament on Monday announced that the government has decided to repeal Article 370 of the Constitution which grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir, and bars people from rest of the country from buying land in the state.
Shortly after the resolution was tabled in Rajya Sabha, several Bollywood celebrities including veteran actor Paresh Rawal, actress Raveena Tandon, and filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar took to social media to hail the decision.

Veteran actor and former BJP MP Paresh Rawal, in a Twitter post, extended support to the center's decision of scrapping Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. In an announcement with massive repercussions for Jammu and Kashmir, Home Minister Amit Shah has announced in Rajya Sabha that the government has decided to repeal Article 370 of the Constitution which grants special status to J&K. The government has also decided to bifurcate the state into two Union territories – Jammu and Kashmir, which will have a legislature, and Ladakh, which will be without a legislature.
