Manjinder S Sirsa hails Modi government's decision to revoke Article 370 from Jammu & Kashmir

In a historic move taken up by the current government, Home Minister Amit Shah proposed the abrogation of Article 370 from the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Amit Shah while addressing the parliament on Monday announced that the government has decided to repeal Article 370 of the Constitution which grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir, and bars people from rest of the country to buy land on the state.

Shortly after the resolution was tabled in Rajya Sabha, Shiromani Akali Dal MLA Manjinder S Sirsa came forward to cheer for the Modi government. In a recent Twitter post, he hailed the decision and said, "Historical decision: Article 370 to be revoked India is ONE #Kashmir"

Meanwhile, ahead of the Parliamentary session, the MLA had extended support to the Modi government's decision saying 'it would be for the greater good of Kashmir'. In an earlier post, he had stated, "We hope and pray for everyone’s safety in Kashmir... May Waheguru bless India and our integral part Kashmir And if this anxiety results in Abrogation of Article 35A, it would be for the greater good of Kashmir and prosperity of the region. #KashmirIssue"

Amit Shah recommends the revocation of Article 370

In an announcement with massive repercussions for Jammu and Kashmir, Home Minister Amit Shah has announced in Rajya Sabha that the government has decided to repeal Article 370 of the Constitution which grants special status to J&K. The government has also decided to bifurcate the state into two Union territories – Jammu and Kashmir, which will have a legislature, and Ladakh, which will be without a legislature.
