Minister of State Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy while speaking to Republic TV on Monday appealed to the people of Jammu and Kashmir to maintain peace. He also assured everything was normal in the state. His statement comes a few minutes before Home Minister Amit Shah's statement in Lok Sabha (12.00 pm) and Rajya Sabha (11.00 am) on the Kashmir matter.

Speaking to Republic TV, he said, "There is no tension in Jammu and Kashmir, everything is peaceful. The people should restrain... number of people are giving false information and propaganda. They should stop propagating, everything is normal."

Developments in the Kashmir issue:

PM Narendra Modi on Monday held meeting of the Cabinet Committee for Security and then a Cabinet meeting. The BJP had issued a whip to all MPs to attend the Parliament sesions in both Houses on August 5 and 7.

Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad called a meeting of all opposition Rajya Sabha members in his chamber to discuss the Kashmir issue at 10.00 am on Monday. Earlier on Monday, Ghulam Nabi Azad and other MPs Anand Sharma, Ambika Soni, and Bhubaneswar Kalita gave Adjournment Motion notice in the Rajya Sabha over the Kashmir issue.
