Following the government's historic decision to revoke Article 370 pertaining to Jammu and Kashmir, Major Mohammed Ali Shah (Retd) voiced his opinion while speaking to Republic TV and said that the entire series of developments had been carefully planned and that the country would finally be united as one:

"Everything here seems to be well thought of and well planned. The entire country is going to be united and integreted together after this decision." he said

However, Major Ali also asserted that it does not end with revoking Article 370 and 35A, but the move will be successful if it is ensured that the Kashmiri youth will not resort to pelting stones. He also added that the Kashmir populace needs to be included in the mainstream society:

"The Kashmiri youth should have pens and laptops instead of weapons. We should create education, employment and new opportunities for them."

Pointing out to similar provisions in states like Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and North-Eastern States where outsiders are not allowed to buy land or any immovable properties though not to the extent as J&K, Major Mohommed Ali said that it's about time these things change and hoped that peace prevails after the historic decision. He appealed people to be optimistic about the government's decision on Jammu and Kashmir:

"Let's move beyond 1947. My advise to people is lets not create bad blood or resort to bloodshed. Its an decision by the elected government which has to be honoured" he added

Further giving his opinion about the government's decision, Major Mohommed Ali maintained that at the moment, revoking of Article 370 is just a resolution and that it has not been implemented yet. He said that whatever has been announced should be willingly accepted:

"I am concerned about what will happen once it is actually implemented. It should be gracefully accepted. We should look forward for development and good things," he said

Major Mohommed Ali also appealed to political parties opposing the government's decision to not engage in politics on the matter.

"The decision has been well thought of and carefully planned. I hope it will be for the betterment of our country. Let's focus on education," he said, adding, "Kashmiris are our own people. We have been fighting amongst ourselves. The only way forward is to win hearts. But the youth in the valley need to understand that the army is present to keep guard and protect them. They are our own troops. Let's be there for each other."
