Less than two weeks after the Pulwama terror attack, in which 40 CRPF jawans lost their lives, the Indian armed forces took their revenge as they bombed three hubs of the terror outfit in Pakistan early in the morning on Tuesday.

The armed forces had been planning the move ever since the terror attack in Pulwama, and the pre-dawn on Tuesday proved to be the perfect time to avenge the CRPF martyrs, given JeM operators had flocked up in the three posts.

A number of key terrorists were targeted through this attack, which included Maulana Talha and Ibrahim Azhar - brothers of terror outfit's chief Masood Azhar - as well as JeM chief's brother in law, Yusuf Azhar - mastermind of 1999 IC-814 plane hijacking.

The Indian forces conducted this operation using the Mirage 2000 jets. A dozen fighter jets used laser-guided bombs to attack the three hubs of JeM - Balakot, Chakhoti, Muzaffarabad. Sources have said that 245 terrorists were neutralized from this operation.

India's Foreign Secretary, while confirming the operation, had said on the same day, "The JeM has been operating in Pakistan for over two decades, which is led by Masood Azhar. This organization is responsible for a series of terror attacks. Credible intelligence was received that Jaish-e-Mohammed was attempting another suicide terror attack in various parts of the country and fidayeen jihadis were being trained for this purpose. A pre-emptive strike became important. In an intelligence lead operation in the early hours today, India struck the biggest training camp of Jaish-e-Mohammed in Balakot. In this operation, a very large number of JeM terrorists, trainers, senior commander & groups of Jihadis were eliminated. This facility in Balakot was headed by Maulana Yusuf Azhar alias Ustad Ghauri, brother in law of JeM Chief Masood Azhar," Vijay Gokhale said.
