An FIR has been lodged against Kanhaiya Kumar and his supporters for disrupting the medical services and threatening the lives of the doctors at AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences), Patna by the administration on Sunday. It has been reported that Kanhaiya Kumar forcefully barged with around 100 unidentified supporters into the OPD ward number C3A at the AIIMS hospital on October 14 at around 7 pm to meet a patient named Sushil Kumar who was later identified to be Bihar AISF (All India Students Federation) chief. While the on-duty staff members advised him to follow the procedure at the hospital, Kanhaiya Kumar and his supporters misbehaved and abused the doctors on duty.

Furthermore, Dr. Ashwani Pandey, a 5th-year student who was on duty has shared his ordeal stating that he was threatened for life by the AISF leader and his supporters when he and other on-call doctors tried to stop them.

Speaking in the matter, Dr. Ashwani Pandey claimed that Kanhaiya threatened him and said “Mujhe pechante nahi ho kya babu. Ek minute me kya kar denge tumhe pata bhi nahi chalega. Samajh me aa raha hai ya nhi? Kanhaiya ko poora desh jaanta hai. Nitish Kumar ne mana kiya hai tumhe mujhe ghusne dene se" (Don’t you know who I am. You will never even realize what I will do to you within a single minute. The entire country knows Kanhaiya Kumar. Has Nitish Kumar (Bihar CM) stopped u from allowing me to enter the hospital?)

The doctor also claimed that there were two police constables with the mob who did not do anything to stop the mob. Furthermore, Kanhaiya’s supporters also snatched the mobile phones of the doctors and other staff members when they were filming the video of the event.

Since there is no CCTV installed in the area, there is no accurate video evidence of the incident. However, a small video clip was shot by one of the doctors suggested that Kanhaiya Kumar is involved in a heated conversation with the doctors. While the FIR has been lodged against the former JNUSU President, Sushil Kumar, the patient who Kanhaiya went to meet has denied all the allegations.

Following the incident, Mangal Pandey, Bihar Health Minister has declared that the lives of doctors will be protected at any cost after which he condemned the actions of Kanhaiya Kumar for threatening the AIIMS doctors for life.

Meanwhile, SSP of Patna, Manu Maharaj has also stated that police have started the investigation in the matter and FIR has been lodged under Sections 143, 353, 379, 323, 506 and 504 against Kanhaiya Kumar and his supporters. After the probe, if required, Kanhaiya will also be arrested for further investigation.

Reports of the incident have come weeks after former JNUSU President Kanhaiya Kumar announced that he will contest the 2019 Lok Sabha election from Begusarai constituency in Bihar on a Communist Party of India (CPI) ticket, against the ruling JD(U)-BJP alliance.
