Karnataka crisis | Congress-JD(S) rebel MLAs in Mumbai claim return would be futile despite purported ministerial offers, express interest in joining 'new government'

Even as the Congress and the JD(S) are scampering to save the coalition government which saw 13 MLAs quit from their respective parties, the rebel MLAs camping in Mumbai remain firm in their decision to not return to their parties. They have decided to support the new government.

As per sources, the dissenting leaders met and discussed the recent development in Karnataka politics where Congress and JD(S) ministers have decided o quit to meet their demands. 

As per sources, all of them have come to the conclusion that even if they went back to their parties and were given ministerial berths, then too, the danger of collapse of the coalition government will persist. Hence, they believe there was no longer any no point in going back to their parties, sources said.

Congress attempts to pacify rebel MLAs 

Meanwhile, Congress leaders from whose party, 22 ministers resigned on Monday to make room for the rebel MLAs, held a media briefing where top leaders such as Siddaramaiah, AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal, and KPCC chief Dinesh Gundu Rao spoke.

Siddaramaiah confirmed saying that all 22 ministers from the party have resigned."We've taken a call to reshuffle the cabinet. I thank the MLAs for cooperating and helping to save the government. We're ready to discuss, those who resigned must come back. We're confident that they will come back. This will be the sixth failure of BJP to destabilisize the government," KC Venugopal added.

Ministers from COng-JD(S) coalition ready to resign 

The Congress ministers including Deputy CM G Parameshwara have tendered their resignations to the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee chief Dinesh Gundu Rao. The party will take a decision on when the resignations need to be given to the state's Governor Vajubhai Vala. Meanwhile, the JD(S) has also decided to bow to the rebelling MLAs' demands and asked its ministers to resign.
