Kerala forecast to receive heavy rainfall and thunderstorms ahead of Monsoon's landfall in three days time: Forecast here

Kerala is expected to witness heavy bouts of rain and thunderstorms in the next two to three days ahead of the onset of monsoon on June 7.

Kerala is expected to witness heavy bouts of rain and thunderstorms in the next two to three days ahead of the onset of monsoon on June 7. 

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rains in parts of Kerala till June 5.

According to Skymet weather, during the last 48 hours, fairly widespread light-to-moderate rains with a few heavy spells occurred in parts of Kerala. On Sunday, from 08:30 am, Alappuzha recorded 58 mm of rain, followed by Thiruvananthapuram at 33 mm, Kottayam with 22 mm, Kochi with 9 mm and Punalur with 3 mm.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the monsoon had advanced into the southern-most parts of the Arabian sea, some more parts of Maldives-Comorin area, southwest, southeast and east coast of the Bay of Bengal. 

IMD added that a cyclonic circulation in lower levels lies over Lakshadweep area and adjoining southeast Arabian Sea, which is likely to move westwards without any intensification during the next two days.

Northern parts of India, however, may not get relief from the severe heat wave, which is likely to continue over Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Vidarbha, through the next 2-3 days.

The heat wave is also likely to prevail over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and south Uttar Pradesh for the next two days. 

The warmest day over the next 25 days in Kerala is forecast to be June 5th at 32°C and the warmest night on June 5th at 26°C.

 The average temperature over the next 25 days is forecast to be 29°C. The average for June is 27°C  in Kerala.

Kochi is expected to have heavy rainfall on 6th and 7th June with the wind speed at 4 KMPH.
