Moments after reports surfaced of a minor being killed in a high intensity blast in Kolkata’s Dumdum, Purnendu Basu, a minister in Mamata Banerjee government accused the RSS and BJP for the blast. Now, Union Minister Babul Supriyo has slammed the Bengal Minister and said that TMC minister blaming the RSS, BJP for the blast is 'absolutely trash'.

“TMC Minister is saying it was done by the RSS or BJP. It’s absolutely trash. How can they comment like this? This is a pattern for them,” said the Union Minister.

Supriyo further slammed the TMC leader for politicising the blast and said:

“Someone lost his life and they are politicising this also. They are blaming RSS and BJP for everything. The police is saying that we are yet to find the out the reason but TMC minister is already said that we are behind this. What do they want to say? It’s not appropriate for a minister to comment like this where police are saying they are yet to find out any conclusion.”

“I don’t want to comment politically now. It’s a sad moment for the family who lost their child and it’s a trash comment by the TMC minister. The TMC Minister wants to put lead on the police with these sort of comments,” added Supriyo.

A 7-year-old boy was killed in the high intensity crude bomb blast at a sweet shop in Dumdum. The blast has injured 11, out of which four are in serious condition.

Apart from Basu, another TMC minister Jyotipriyo Mallik, while speaking to a local channel has also claimed that BJP is behind the attack. He said, ‘There target was Panchu Roy, local TMC councillor. Because Panchu is a popular leader and working very hard, they targeted him’.

Meanwhile, even as the TMC is politicising the issue, the police has said it is “too early” to tell that who was behind it.

“This unfortunate incident took place in the morning, it was a bomb blast. Don't know nature of bomb, it was a high intensity explosion. Teams are at spot investigating nature of blast. Prima Facie can't tell you anything  because I'm not an expert on bombs. Something has exploded, we don't find any gas cylinder, we don't find any foul smell of gun powder or anything, so we have to ascertain cause of blast. Intensity of the blast is pretty high because window panes of buildings have got shattered. Several people are injured. It is a crowded area, because of intensity, 4 people have been seriously injured. We have found some remnants of some iron nails and other things, can't ascertain because there's no smell of gunpowder. Experts are still ascertaining facts,” said a police officer.

“We found a bag here but there was nothing in it. We got a black bag, it has been seized and sent to forensics. Too early to tell you about who is behind it,”  he added.
