The iconic Lalbaugcha Raja’s first look was unveiled on Friday ahead of the start of Ganesh Chaturthi on September 2, with the event being live-streamed on the official Lalbaugcha Raja Twitter handle. The theme for this year was based on space where you could find the background projecting the planets of the Milky Way. There were also two astronauts hanging in the background with the Vikram Lander of the Chandrayaan-2 spacecraft. One could also see a big spacecraft hovering above the Ganesh Idol.

This year a huge crowd with the media had gathered for the unveiling of the first look of the famous Ganesh idol in the heart of Mumbai. The theme of Lalbaugcha Raja was based on ISRO's Chandrayaan-2 which is currently just a week away from attempting a soft-landing on the Lunar surface and is seeking to make India just the fourth nation to accomplish such a feat. The Lalbaugcha Raja is the most famous Ganesh idol in Mumbai with a record number of people, including many celebrities, visiting Lalbaug to seek blessings of Lord Ganesha’s idol.

At the unveiling, the curtain rises to reveal a majestic idol of Lord Ganesha, though the more remarkable aspect is that it is surrounded by two astronauts and the Chandrayaan-2's lander. As the video progresses, the background is revealed to be a massive screen which showcases visuals from various planets and other bodies in the solar system, including Jupter, Saturn and its rings.
