As per top sources in Dubai, the embalming process of Sridevi's mortal remains is yet to begin, even as the Dubai Public Prosecutor's decision on a second autopsy is yet to be taken

New details have emerged from Dubai in the matter of the death of Bollywood icon Sridevi, which the autopsy report on Monday had revealed to have taken place due to "accidental drowning" after she slipped and fell into her hotel room's bathtub. As per top sources in Dubai, Sridevi's mortal remains are still at the Forensic centre at the Dubai Police's headquarters and the embalming process is yet to begin.

The Dubai Public Prosecutor, to whom the case was transferred on Monday by the Dubai Police is to take a decision on whether a second autopsy would be conducted. Following the prosecutor beginning its probe, Sridevi’s hotel room 2201 in Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel has been sealed for investigation and is under police control. At this time, the prosecutor's report in Sridevi's death is yet to be given, meaning there may be a delay in the return of her mortal remains to India where the last rites are expected to take place.

Late on Monday, almost 48 hours after the news of Sridevi’s death broke, sources told Republic TV that her husband Boney Kapoor was questioned by the Dubai Police for 16-18 hours in relation to his wife’s death. Additionally, sources also said that Boney Kapoor spent the night at the Dubai Police Headquarters in questioning, and claim that after the “grilling” which lasted an approximate 18 hours, the Dubai Police cleared Boney Kapoor. 

The mystery surrounding Sridevi’s passing away deepened after it came to light that she died of ‘accidental drowning’ after losing balance and falling into a bathtub full of water.  According to the forensic report, traces of alcohol were also found in the actor's body.

Sridevi had gone to UAE, along with husband Boney Kapoor and daughter Khushi Kapoor, to attend her nephew Mohit Marwah's wedding. Sridevi’s elder daughter Janhvi Kapoor had to skip the wedding celebrations to complete the shoot of her Bollywood debut film ‘Dhadak’.

Meanwhile, celebrities and fans have been flocking to the Mumbai residence of Anil Kapoor, brother-in-law of the actress.

Actress Madhuri Dixit, director Karan Johar, designer Manish Malhotra, actress Tabu, filmmaker Farah Khan, choreographer Saroj Khan, actor Farhan Akhtar, along with mother Honey Irani, were seen visiting the family on Monday.
