Laudatory Step: PM Modi Hails SC For Operating Under National Judicial Data Grid

CJI DY Chandrachud announced that the Supreme Court will come under the National Judicial Data Grid platform which will provide tracking of pendency of cases.

Hailing Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud’s announcement on Thursday that the Supreme Court of India will now operate under the National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG) platform, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the step and said that such harnessing of technology will bring transparency and enhance the justice delivery system in our country.

“Laudatory step by the Supreme Court and CJI DY Chandrachud Ji. Such harnessing of technology will further transparency and enhance the justice delivery system in our country,” the Prime Minister tweeted. 

The Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud on Thursday in a historic announcement said that the Supreme Court of India will now come under the National Judicial Data Grid platform which will help the tracking of pendency of cases. CJI says it will facilitate the tracking of pending cases. 

Calling the development 'historic', the Chief Justice noted that the platform aims to enhance transparency and accountability in the judicial system. Notably, the implementation of this digital platform allows for immediate access to crucial data pertaining to civil and criminal case backlogs. 

"It is a historic day. It is a unique platform which is developed by the NIC and in-house team of the Supreme Court. Now, at the click of a button, you can see real-time information on the pendency of cases, year-wise, total pendency of registered and unregistered cases, number of cases decided qoram-wise," CJI Chandrachud stated.
