  • Rifleman Aurangzeb had been abducted and killed by terrorists in June towards the end of the Ramzan ceasefire that had been initiated in J&K
  • 'Let Sidhu take responsibility for blood spilled in Kashmir', rifleman Aurangzeb's father Mohammad Hanief has said

Martyred Indian Army Rifleman Aurangzeb's father gave out the strongest message to Cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu who courted controversy by hugging Pakistan's Army Chief Qamar Javed Bajwa during his visit to India's terror-friendly neighbour for the swearing in of Imran Khan as Pak's Prime Minister. Rifleman Aurangzeb had been abducted and killed by terrorists in June towards the end of the Ramzan ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir

Speaking to Republic TV, Aurangzeb's father has asked whether 'hugging the Army Chief, who is responsible for the bloodshed of our soldiers, was justified?'

"I would like to make few points. First of all, our Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu recently met the Pakistan Army Chief. On one hand, we have the sons of the soil who sacrifice their life for the motherland and on the other hand he (Sidhu) is hugging the Pakistan Army Chief. Is it right? Is it justified?", Mohammad Hanief asked.

The martyr's father added:

"Imran Khan is now the Prime Minister of Pakistan and you (Sidhu) have met him. Now, I want to meet him. The step that Prime Minister Narendra Modi took was for the country. This was the first step and you are just trying to negate that step. I don't want any bloodshed in our country. Let Sidhu take responsibility for blood spilled in Kashmir".

A day after Republic TV confronted Navjot Singh Sidhu who was then unwilling to speak about his trip, the Congress leader held a news briefing where he put forth that he had the support of the Congress party.

"My leaders are with me", Sidhu said, before making it seem like not speaking to Pakistan, which unleashes violence on India and Indians either directly or indirectly every day, was a matter of India being small-hearted.

Earlier in the briefing, far from apologising for the hug, Navjot Singh Sidhu defended hugging Bajwa, under whose reign numerous terrorist attacks, incursions and ceasefire violations have caused death and destruction in India. Sidhu said that his affection for Qamar Javed Bajwa had increased during the visit.
