Lok Sabha Polls 2019: "Congress will win 13 seats in Punjab", says CM Amarinder Singh as he assures people that 'free and fair' elections will be held

The national elections are scheduled to take place in seven rounds beginning from April 11 to May 19, the results of which will be announced on May 23, the Election Commission announced on Sunday.

The national elections are scheduled to take place in seven rounds beginning from April 11 to May 19, the results of which will be announced on May 23, the Election Commission announced on Sunday.

Responding to the EC's decision of holding polls on May 19th, the Chief Minister of Punjab, Amarinder Singh said, 'We are all geared up for it, and I was hoping that it would happen sooner, but better late than never, and god willing, we will come out with all thirteen seats'.

Assuring the people of Punjab that fair elections will be held, CM Singh said, 'I want to assure everybody that polls will be held in a proper manner, law and order will be in control, and nobody should worry about anything'. 

The 2019 General elections will be held for 543 Lok Sabha seats on nearly 10 lakh polling booths across the country which higher compared to 9 lakh in 2014, with 84 million more voters will be casting their vote this time. 

  • The election is going to take place in seven phases instead of 9 as compared to 2014 elections.
  • 1st phase polling to be held on 11th April, 
  • 2nd phase on 18th April, 
  • 3rd phase on 23rd April, 
  • 4th phase on 29th April, 
  • 5th phase on 6th May, 
  • 6th phase on 12th May, 
  • 7th phase on 19th May 

The counting of votes of all phases of the 29 states and 7 Union Territories will take place on May 23.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi in a tweet praised the Election Commission for 'assiduously organising elections for several years.'
