While the political uncertainty in Maharashtra continues, Congress leader Kagda Chandya Padvi has said that the end result will be positive and the Chief Minister of Maharashtra will be from Shiv Sena. Since Monday morning, there have been frantic developments in the Shiv Sena, Congress, and NCP to form an alliance. Multiple meetings have been held in order to have a mutual conclusion. Speaking to ANI, Padvi said that the process is still underway but he is certain about the alliance.

"Process is still underway, but end result will be positive. Personally I think the three (Shiv Sena-Congress-NCP) parties will form the government and a Shiv Sena leader will be the Chief Minister," Padvi said.

The Congress party has, however, maintained ambiguity over their support to Shiv Sena to form the government in Maharashtra. Sonia Gandhi chaired marathon meetings over the on-going political scenario in Maharashtra. After those meetings, she said that the Congress party would 'further discuss' the issue with NCP patron Sharad Pawar.

Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari had on Monday asked NCP chief Sharad Pawar to indicate the willingness and ability of NCP to form the government in Maharashtra. The development came after Shiv Sena, which is keen to have its own Chief Minister in the state, did not get additional time from the Governor to submit letters of support from the NCP and the Congress. The Shiv Sena was approached after the BJP showed unwillingness to form the government in Maharashtra despite being the single largest party.

Power tussle in the state

The results of the Maharashtra elections declared on October 24 threw up a surprise with the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance not faring as well as expected. The tally of the BJP came down to 105, from 122 seats which they had won in the 2014 election. Shiv Sena too won from only 56 constituencies. On the other hand, the NCP and Cong gained 54 and 44 seats respectively. Though the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance had a comfortable majority, a tussle broke out over the CM’s post. BJP's decision on Sunday not to accept the Governor's invite to form the government increased the possibility of a potential political realignment in the state.
