Maharashtra: Policemen felicitated for saving life of poll officer

Two policemen in Maharashtra were felicitated for saving life of polling station in-charge who suffered a cardiac arrest on October 21. PSI Dnyanoba Suryawanshi and Police Naik Vaibhav Girkar were felicitated by city collector Shivaji Jondhale for saving the life of poll station in charge Jayant Dhole.

Polling officer suffers a heart attack

Jayant Dhole who is an officer in the Ses fax Department and was posted at a polling booth of Malabar hill Assembly constituency as the polling station in-charge on October 21. He suffered a cardiac arrest while he was on duty, Dnyanoba Suryawanshi and Naik Vaibhav Girkar were also posted at the station. The policemen didn't wait for an ambulance and carried Jayant Dhole on their shoulder to the vehicle and then rushed him to JJ Hospital with the help of a few others present at the polling station.

CRPF officer saves polling officer's life

In a similar incident, a polling officer's life was saved in Kashmir. A CRPF officer saved the life of a Kashmiri election official when he suffered from an attack during polling on April 20 at the booth. Constable Surinder Kumar of 28 Battalion stationed at the polling booth in government girl’s school, Buchpora, noticed that presiding officer Ahsaan-ul-Haq was feeling unwell. Kumar tried calling emergency numbers but none responded. 

However, he immediately sought help from his senior in the battalion, Dr. Suneed Khan. After receiving the call, Khan discerned that it was a heart attack and immediately instructed Kumar for the next 45 minutes over the phone to give cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). "He responded to the situation intelligently and followed my instruction very diligently,” Khan told media. The ambulance arrived at 10 am after which Haq was shifted to SKIMS. Doctors said the timely intervention saved the official’s life.
