A major terror plot has been averted by the security forces in the Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir, as per sources.

Two terrorists, believed to be heavily-armed, have been arrested in an operation that began on Sunday night. The forces had received intelligence inputs of their presence, and following this, a joint operation was launched by the Jammu and Kashmir Police as well as by the Army.

The terrorists were arrested from the remote Gool area of the Ramban district. A large cache of weapons and cash has also been seized.

As per inputs, the terrorists are being questioned. Their affiliations are currently unknown.

The win for the forces comes almost three months to the day of the horrific Pulwama terror attack when a Jaish-e-Mohammed suicide bomber had driven his explosive-laden car into a CRPF convoy killing 40 Jawans in the worst such attack on the forces in many decades. The aftermath saw India retaliating by bombing Pakistan's terror factory in Balakot as tensions between the two countries reached a boiling point, culminating in the aerial battle in the Nowshera skies a day after the IAF's Balakot blitz.

In the months subsequent to this, India's diplomatic efforts have witnessed Pakistan being isolated globally, with 'all-weather friend' China even being forced to release its hold against JeM chief Masood Azhar being listed as a global terrorist as India won a massive victory in the United Nations.

Further details on the foiling of the terror attack are awaited.
