A second scare in the space of a few days awaited Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal after a man with a pistol was arrested from right outside his residence in the National Capital. This incident comes less than a week after the AAP convenor was attacked with chilli powder outside his cabin at the Delhi Secretariat.
It is reported that an individual named Mohammad Imran was holding a .32mm live cartridge when he visited the Janta Darbar of the Delhi CM. He was immediately arrested by the police, and would be presented in front of court later on Tuesday.
According to the accused, he was on the way to surrender the pistol when he reached Kejriwal's residence. In the early investigation, the man has stated that he had no intention of killing the Delhi CM, an had kept it by mistake with himself when he reached the Delhi CM's house.
Last week, Kejriwal faced a major scare after a man, in the pretext of meeting the Delhi CM, tried to attack him using chilli powder. The incident took place on November 20 around 2 pm, when the AAP convenor was on his way for lunch.
It is reported that the accused shouted 'Mai deshbhakt hu' before throwing chilli powder at him. A scuffle broke out between him and the other individuals present at the location, following which he was taken into custody and was then lodged in the Indraprastha police station.
In the aftermath of the attack, Delhi Police, along with the Intelligence Bureau questioned the attacker. Anil, in a video which was accessed by Republic TV, could be seen brazenly defending his action while accusing Kejriwal of fooling the people.
"Whatever I could have done, I did today. Since nine years he has been making a fool of us. Since nine years he is shadowing his true identity in the pretext of being a nationalist. On Facebook, a true nationalist wrote, I have become crazy for him. Even if some shoots me, I am crazy for him. That doesn't mean you should keep quiet. Will you keep quiet?," he said during his questioning.
