Following the successful joint operation of the CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir police force in which two terrorists identified by the name of Ashiq Hussain and AMU (Aligarh Muslim University) scholar-turned-Hizbul commander Manan Bashir Wani, were killed in a gunfight encounter by the security forces in Handwara area of North Kashmir on Thursday, the Indian Armed Forces have been receiving a lot of praises for their work.

Talking into the matter, the Registrar of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Abdul Hamid has opened up and declared that Manan Wani was suspended from the university long back and AMU has nothing to do with anymore.

“Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Manan Wani who was killed in Handwara encounter today was once a student at AMU, he was rusticated from the University. AMU has nothing to do with him now. Few students tried to hold a gathering today in the university over his death, out of whom three students have been suspended by the authorities,” said Abdul Hamid, IPS currently serving as Registrar at AMU.

Apparently, Manan Wani was a former AMU research scholar at the Department of Geology. But in January 2018, he went missing from the university, following which his phone went off from January 4. While his family tried to contact him after he went missing, they could not reach to him in any circumstances. Left with no option, they lodged a missing report with the police. The family later, came to know about him joining the militant organization, Hizbul Mujahideen, when a photograph of him appeared on the social media in which he was seen holding assault rifle. The photograph that appeared on Facebook and Whatsapp read that Manan had joined the militant organisation on January 5.
