In the wake of the Supreme Court delaying hearings in the Ayodhya dispute till at least January 2019, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath plans to build a 'Statue of Unity'-like statue of Lord Ram in Ayodhya, as per sources. This development has come moments after Republic TV bagged a scoop entailing BJP's state president in Uttar Pradesh Mahendra Nath Pandey dropping a significant hint about an impending announcement to be made by the UP CM post-Diwali, which will be 'good news'. Sources have said that the statue of Lord Ram is going to be taller than 100 metres -- on a similar scale to the tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

As per sources, there are going to several more announcements coming from the UP government, especially by CM Yogi Adityanath on the occasion of Diwali. Sources have revealed that a massive museum and special airport dedicated to Lord Ram will also be built in Ayodhya, along with the huge Lord Ram statue.

Earlier, on Friday, BJP state party chief Mahendra Nath Pandey, remarking on the fact that Yogi Adityanath will be celebrating Diwali in Ayodhya, teased, 'Certainly there will be good news after Diwali. Wait for Yogi ji's announcement'.

"Yogi ji ne Yojna banayi hai Ram Mandir ke liye, Diwali ke baad khushkhabri denge Yogi ji", Pandey said, which translates to "Yogi ji has made a scheme for Ram Mandir. He will give the good news after Diwali."

Speaking to Republic TV on the matter, BJP MP Dr Subramaninan Swamy stated that he welcomes the decision of building a huge statue of Lord Rama in Ayodhya:

"I welcome that. I think of these particular aspects of the Lord Ram's conduct, how he behaved with his father, with his wife, and all these things. They are educative for all communities of all religions. Furthermore, we are 82% Hindus. And to have a statue for Lord Ram is as secular as having a statue for Jesus Christ in United States of America and England. Lord Ram is a symbol - a symbol for governance and therefore, it stands by itself."

However, he continued to state that, regardless of the statue, the Ram Mandir will be built in Ayodhya one way or another:

"As far as building the temple, the moment my petition for fundamental rights is listed, which is due for listing because the file is lying on the Chief Justice's table for giving a date -- that's what I have been told -- As soon as the date is announced, it will go on much faster than the property issue that has come on in an appeal at the Allahabad High Court. One way or the other, the Ram Temple will be built. What the people want, here's a credible assurance that we are at it and we are serious."

Interestingly, Yogi Adityanath also visited the Statue of Unity on Friday along with Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani, two days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the statue -- the world's tallest -- honouring the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel:
